Searching through Legends mode on my new world, many megabeasts and other creatures have been getting picked off by entities only referred to as "unknown creature". Just what are these? Is it a glitch? Are they clowns?

IIRC, if you have history set so that it erases unimportant historical figures (which is good for memory use and speed during world-gen), then anything those historical figures do shows up in legends mode as being done by an "unknown creature."

I would have thought that taking out a megabeast would be notable enough to not be culled from historical figures.  Guess the standards are pretty high in some circles, lol.
