cancels Weave Thread
« on: July 02, 2012, 10:01:12 am »

Any tips on how to setup my weaving properly.
I constantly get this message:

"xxx, cancels Weave Thread into Cloth: Needs 1 unused collected plant thread."

Yet, I have a stockpile nearby with: a "Cloth Bin (maple <#48>" where there is 14x "pig tail fiber thread"

If you tell the stockpile to "give" to your loom(s) does it fix it? Is the thread forbidden? I know you said it's right next to the workshop, but is there any chance your thread is being taken to the hospital?

or they are constantly taking the bin away. If you have a hospital with storage, that is usually a big problem, true.

Thanks for quick answers.
1. No I dont have a hospital. Im two days into learning DF :=)
2. I think the double use of the bin was the trouble. When only 1 dwarf were allowed to use the Loom, the error message disappeared.

And now I have more cloth, so something is being weaved.

the bin thing I meant, btw, was for them picking up thread, I see I wasn't very clear first time around. Basically, a new thread is available and someone gets to the bin faster than the weaver to pick up the new thread, the weaver cancels his job.

Have you had any dwarves receive sutures and subsequently get killed? If so, those threads might be leftover sutures, and they can't be used for anything useful.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

since he mentioned not having a hospital and being 2 days into DF, I doubt it
