This is my first fortress since 31.25. I cleared out a big underground soil space. Then I breached the cavern, got the pop-up box. The cavern had no water in it, though I don't know if that's relevant. Lots of mud, but not the underground ocean that I expected. I walled the cavern back up, and waited.

Two months later, I have no grass on my silty clay loam cavern floor. My sheep are getting nervous about the giant storks flying nearby. Do I need to wait longer, or is there some step I missed to making an underground pasture and trees?

I've had that too and yes, you need to go find the next cavern, this one won't cause moss to grow
