Allow dwarf civs to be placed on non-neutral mountains
« on: June 27, 2012, 03:30:38 pm »

How can I achieve this? I have zeroed on this section of the raws:

[START_BIOME:MOUNTAIN]

But I don't see where it says that it has to be neutral.

Checked out wiki / googled, but to no avail.

Halp?

I would expect that all civs cant be in evil biomes during world gen, but I really don't know. I don't know how to change that, but I suspect that it might be hard-coded.

I believe EVIL and GOOD and SAVAGE? biomes cannot have a SITE built on it. Altho that does not mean a SITE's boundry cannot exstend to them

There's a tag that lets civs settle in good, evil, or savage biomes. Check elves and goblins.

If memory serves, i only have seen goblins building anything in evil biomes. If possible, they build them almost exclusively there. That warrants testing...

A'ight - some !!SCIENCE!! and quite a few world-gens later;

   [USE_EVIL_ANIMALS]
   [USE_EVIL_PLANTS]
   [USE_EVIL_WOOD]

into the entity file delivered immediate results. If there is any evil region wich' biome they support, they will spawn and build there. Still, evil mountains are quite rare. Somewhat off-topic, but the likeliness of dark fortresses spawning on glaciers is also quite high and seems to be hardcoded.

What i'm getting at? If your entity has biome support 1 Forest and 4 Wetland, even with the use evil tags, they still ought to chose any good or benign forest over any evil wetland. After some further testing, it seems to still be random for the most part. Them using evil stuff only seems to make them eligible for building there at all, not more prone to.

Make their default spawn and building sites dark fortesses, and you will have the best likelyhood of them spawning in evil biomes.

You still will have to enter advanced parameters to get remotely enough evil regions for them to settle in.

Well, to my knowledge goblins are the only critter with either of those tokens ([EVIL]), so...SCIENCE is needed. (It can only be !!SCIENCE!! if fire is involved somehow, like if you made fire men evil and gave them an entity.
I'd like to see that mod.)
