Do gear assemblies function only as a turn, or do they function as a 4 way intersection axle? I haven't played for quite a while, and can't remember exactly how these fuction. I'm wondering, because the general setup is abusing multiple rows of dwarf-made streams that I plan to use as a central source of power.

For example, would all axels in this be powered if one was? (A)xel, (G)ear Assembly

You could even plug in 2 more axles on the z-level above and below the gears, for a 6 way split.
