My current fort has 170 levels deep, with the caverns begining at -100.

In a hole in the ground there lived a dwarf. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a dwarf fortress, and that means magma.

The negative or plus thing just refers to how deep you are under the surface at that given point. -16 isn't even that strange, I've had plenty of forts with caverns all of the way down in the -30 range.
The figure in the top right does. The figure in the bottom right is the absolute elevation as used by worldgen, with 99 being oceanside. If your first cavern layer is below the bottom of the map, then that's unusual.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
