On the whole I've found that no matter what forum you go to the dwarf fortress section is full of great people who are always willing to help. I think it just comes with the fact that these are people who know that asking questions isn't something you rail on someone for and that being mean will drive people away from an amazing game.

This game breeds nice people.

But yeah, I guess Ted was a pretty nice guy.
