Dark Fortresses dont exist?

I keep trying to enter Dark Fortresses on my latest character, but theyre just fields. I dont know if Im not looking hard enough or what, but I am very confused. I play with the Masterwork mod, but this has been happening since the vanilla game. Help?

Nothing but camps, castles and towns exist.



No dark forts, mountainhomes, or retreats.
