Adding new skills?
« on: June 19, 2012, 04:57:24 pm »

Is it possible to add new skills and professions to the vanilla game by editing the raw files? I've been rooting around in them for a while, trying to add muskets and their pertinent skills, but I haven't been able to find how to do this yet.

Answers and help are greatly appreciated.

If the weapons are only used by a specific race then you could take a skill that isn't normally used (like blow gunner), have the weapons use that skill, and then rename it on the creature (not the entity) with something like:
[PROFESSION_NAME:BLOWGUNMAN:musketeer:musketeers]
[PROFESSION_NAME:MASTER_BLOWGUNMAN:sniper:snipers]

The only drawback is that if any other species gets its hands on the weapon they will become blow gunners.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
