Woke up after a nap this afternoon, trying to use the internet and I can't connect to many websites. I turned off the modem, turned it on, reset it. Finally I'm at least able to connect to some websites (like this one), but then most of others including google.com I can't connect. The connection just times out.
I'm calling my ISP, but I'm already waiting on the line for more than an hour.
Is there anything on my end that can be causing this? Otherwise I'm thinking it has to do something with the ISP, right?

You wouldn't happen to have proxy settings active, would you? (make sure they're off or correct just in case a ninjavirus edited them without telling you)

Also, you could try using an alternate dns, like Google DNS or OpenDNS.

Other than that, I can't think of much else you could do.

Yeah, I checked the proxies, one of the first thing I check when weird things happen...

Do you happen to know the IP for the google DNS?

What is Google Public DNS?

Google Public DNS is a free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service, that you can use as an alternative to your current DNS provider.

To try it out:

    Configure your network settings to use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers

You do that on the router.
