Are they finite in a world? I had a poke around the legends mode after my glorious fort fell to a necrosis-causing dust spewer with a terrifyingly long range, and it seems there are many listed there, some of which had a death date during the lifespan of my fort(I managed to kill a ton), and some that still live. Wiki didn't give a clear answer to this. Thanks for your time.

Warning: The following is speculation.

I think so. If you go into Legends and look at your world, you can see a list of forgotten beasts. I believe they are made up when the world is made, and once you kill them all that's it. The thing is, though, is there's alot of them, and running out before your fortress manages to collapse in on itself is a chore in itself. I'm playing on a medium world, 4 years now, and haven't even seen one. So between them, titans, and semi-megas like Dragons and Minotaurs, I don't think running out will be an issue.

Unless you're super dedicated to that world.

Yes, they are definitely finite, as are all megabeasts.
