Problem with humans and coke production
« on: June 04, 2012, 12:47:53 pm »

Hello all,

Everything has been going spiffing for my new village. I managed "copy" the titles from the Dwarves to the Humans without any problem, and even changed them around a bit. All was working well.

But now, I found some charcoal. I was overjoyed when I learned I could get 9 units of coke out of it. I quickly got the smelter up, produced a bit of charcoal (from wood) and to my sad discovery the smelter did not have an option to produce coke.

Is there something I have to modify in the files again, or is this "Accurate"? Did humans never figure out how to make Coke?

Thanks for a possible quick response.

You need to add [PERMITTED_REACTION:BITUMINOUS_COAL_TO_COKE] and [PERMITTED_REACTION:LIGNITE_TO_COKE] in with their other permitted reactions. You should also consider adding some others if you want to work with more metal types.

I thought the human coke problem was them getting high on their own supply.

That kind of coke requires a custom reaction to make.

Charcoal doesn't smelt into coke; charcoal IS coke, effectively. Lignite and Bituminous Coal turn to coke.

Unless I'm grossly misunderstanding something.

Yes but you do need some charcoal to fuel coke production if you don't have any other fuel.

The only items he lists which he has for his coke production is wood and charcoal. He needs lignite or coal to produce coke from the smelter. As far as I can tell he's confusing charcoal with bituminous coal. He needs bituminous coal.

Pretty sure he already has it and "charcoal" slipped out instead of "bituminous coal".
