Generator?
« on: June 02, 2012, 03:10:36 pm »

Mechanics rule my fortresses, almost without exception. I get a lot of fun out of building machines, but running the damn generators kills my FPS. Is there any way which we are aware of to mod in a building/workshop which provides power like a windmill or a waterwheel without CPU-intensive flows, or destroying rainfall patterns?

Nope no way to mode in buildings that take power or make power. Altho there is probally a way to make a more effienct generator with using less pumps (more pumps = less FPS/more lag) but you may already be aware of that.

hunh. I thought it was related to the number of moving water blocks. Haven't had any particular issues with tossing an extra wheel on each pump (4-wheels per pump) but I worry that it might cause power fluctuations / brownouts after a point.

It is, though in general (more pumps)=(more moving water)=(more lag).

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
