Bees weaponized!
« on: June 01, 2012, 05:40:28 am »

It would be great if several consecutive bee stings on one creature would cause serious symptons, like in real life. For instance, mr Gobbo gets stung 10 times (around the neck---->make bees enter combat :D) and his throat swells shut and he suffocates. This would allow a nice new trap, which would be even better if there's a special hive that collapses when triggered, releasing a swarm of angry bees (usually there's about 1000 in one hive----->these hives would be special, not producing anything). Larger creatures would naturally be a lot more resistant to bee venom. Allergies to stuff like bee venom would be nice, and I think gobbos could usually have this allergy.

Well, unless goblins dabble a lot in beekeeping they would probably not be that prone to bee allergy, since you need to have been stung previously and have built up antibodies for an allergic reaction to possibly take place. The most likely candidates of allergy would actually be your beekeepers, since successive bee stings increases the risk of developing an allergy to the venom.

You don't need to suffer allergic anaphylaxis to be killed.  Throughly mundane swelling can choke you out easily, if it's in the wrong place and there's enough of it.  A black eye can swell up enough to close completely, and that's just a glorified bruise.  Imagine that kind of swelling near an airway.

Indeed, any kind of sting in the neck or facial area can be quite serious regardless of allergy. They should definitely have a decent shot at incapacitating or scaring off a small group of goblins if one like stated dropped a hive on top of them ^^

We already have honey and Bumblebees.  Why not Africanized (or desert bees if we want to keep the world general)?

Beehives as catapult ammo, when siege weapons are fixed.

I  just thought of this today!  a bee bomb, or throw-able bea hives would create a storm of angry bees that would create a lot of X has been sung by a bee! spam, and send everyone in the vicinity, friend or foe running

I don't think anyone is going to put bees in there mouth even if they could blow them hard enough to matter.

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

Beehive rounds: you're doing it wrong.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
