Dwarves always taking stone from anywhere except the stockpile?

It's getting annoying and it would be nice if I were able to just force them to use the stockpile first, where there is only one type of stone. Is there a way to do that?

0.34.10? Just make the workshop take from the stockpile.

Keep in mind, they choose by distance. And they ignore Z levels. Build workshop over your newly dug dining hall, they will take the stone from the dining hall.

To make tables, doors and stuff out of the same stone. Like this one time I was trying to get them to make doors (preferably from my overabundance of dacite), but they made some off my obsidian instead, which I was trying to save to make swords. Plus, the contrasting door colors really bug me.
