My civilization screen shows my monarch and general as Goblin Crossbowman and Goblin Axeman respectively. Do dwarves steal Goblin children?

I know when you run worldgen, as time passes a dwarf civ may capture a goblin fortress which usually turns it into dark dwarven fortress. I am just guessing, but maybe there are captured or assimilated goblins when this happens? If one of these goblins were a vampire they might take a leadership position, but this is still a bit of a stretch.

Your dwarven civilization probably conquered a goblin civilization who then had people work it's way up the ranks into your leadership positions. It's rare, but possible.

Well, I looked in Legends. There's 2500 years of this civilization, so a bunch of stuff to read through, even with culling unimportant dudes. What it seems like is that starting at about year 250-300, a goblin became the general - and the post has been held by a goblin since.

Still looking at the king, though.
