Corpse and looting.
« on: May 26, 2012, 10:36:57 am »

I got 3 dead Kobold corpse hanging around outside my village.

What can I do with these bodies? Because I want to be able to butcher the corpse of these goblins and Kobold but I don't know how?

Also, they got some decent equipment when I look at there bodies, how do I obtain them for my dwarves?

You cannot butcher sentient beings without modding the ethics. Sentient beings include goblins and kobolds.*

The stuff they have (and the corpses) is likely forbidden. There are two ways to unforbid them. Hit d -> b -> e and select the area. Or hit 'k' scroll over each individual item and hit the 'f' key.

Foreign corpses will always go into the refuse stockpile.

* This can be changed by opening entity_ethics.txt in your data -> save -> region# -> raw finding [ETHIC:EAT_SAPIENT_OTHER:UNTHINKABLE] and turn UNTHINKABLE into ACCEPTABLE.

I get confused with the 'F' key.

If for example the item is. ([Large Copper Dagger]) does that mean I have claimed it? Or is it without the brackets?

() parentheses indicate that an item was manufactured outside your fort
{} curly braces indicate that an item is forbidden
