Brony fandom
« on: May 28, 2012, 11:44:45 pm »

We all know that the brony fandom is not just something confined to the Bay 12 Games Forum. It is everywhere. Every site with user uploaded content will eventually need to take part in the love, hate and tolerance regarding the show or ban it entirely in the beginning. People seem to be very shallow regarding art and music dedicated to the show and are very quick to put down their hate against it.

Do you have any opinions regarding this? If so, then post it here. We need a focal point for all the pony content that needs to not be bigoted, so we can all bask in the glory of our friendship.

Well this one is, if I read OP correctly, more about discussion of the pony community as a whole rather than the show itself. Which is probably still against the rules, but it seems to me like it'd be a bit farther into the gray area than an explicit pony thread.

But yeah, I'd still lock it for safety's sake.

Yes, they were outlawed because all of them eventually devolved into "grimdark" and other unpleasant things that Toady didn't want on the forum.  I think that's a good way to express how I feel about the fandom.

This quote seems to imply a pony thread, as well as the general talking about pony content.

I'm just going to sum up the results of the last one at "fanfictions that strayed outside the forum rules". And it's been pretty obvious pony threads end up in that area inevitably.

And being that pony threads are not allowed on Bay 12 anymore, you should probably lock this.

Yeah. After a series of unfortunate events x3 pony topics were outlawed and a specialized forum was made just for the Bay12 bronies.

I heard that they were "outlawed" before, but where is the rule saying "no pony threads"? Reading the rules supplied by Toady in the sticky does not in any way, shape or form say that threads discussing the matter at hand against the rules. So, could someone quote Toady on that one? If so, then thread = locked.
