Do traps block wagons now?
« on: May 19, 2012, 01:47:53 am »

I just started a .09 game on a new embark and the first think I notice is that when I build a trap in the hallway to the depot, it blocks wagon access.

Is this new or a bug?

It was new in .08. Trapped but accessible entrances are still possible, but require a bit more planning.

Hrm... I guess I could put the traps on the other side of the depot, but I suppose that leaves the caravan up for attack. Hrm... That gives me an idea though.

If a second part of the hallway was setup to have the traps and then a bridge door that seals off the first part of the tunnel to funnel ambushers into traps. Might as well be a one unit wide hallway too since we aren't worried about wagons anymore.

Do stone fall traps block hallways as well? Though be kind of useless IMO.

Traps, of all sorts, block wagons now. Even pressure plates.

The easiest way to use traps now is to have an A-shaped pathway in your wagon route. The 3-wide path goes through the top of the A while the crossbar is thinner and trapped. Since the crossbar is shorter, invaders will strongly prefer to walk that way, thus walking over the traps, while wagons can still get in.
