Goblins died out?
« on: May 18, 2012, 12:48:01 pm »

I'm playing fortress mode in a world that had only about 6 years of history. I understand this affects the populations of civilations, like the goblins. The question is, can ALL goblins in my world die if I defeat enough sieges? I'm asking because I haven't had any kind of trouble from goblins FOR TWO YEARS, even though my wealth is practically overwhelming and I have over 200 citizens. Oh, and my fort is the capital too. Can these facts affect the frequency of goblin ambushes and sieges, or have they really gone extinct?

I would be surprised if you never get attacked, however its more likely the goblin civ isn't very strong yet.  The goblin civ's population and distance from your fortress affect how quickly and how forcefully they will siege you.

Probably a lot of "First of his/her kind" goblins died in the siege, and much of their population is children, who as far as I know will only grow up properly during worldgen- I've read about dwarven migrants entering a long-standing fort as children at ages of 20-30, only turning adults on their first birthday in the fort.
