Advanced world gen always ends at year 50?
« on: May 17, 2012, 01:20:11 pm »

I tried changing "End Year" to 1051, and then to 300, but it always generates a world with a poxy 50 year history instead. I'm guess this isn't a bug, but just a misunderstanding on my part, because I seem to remember it happened that way in much older releases as well, which is one of the reasons I never got to grips with advanced world gen. What do I need to do to set the number of years of history?

Edit: seems it only happens when I have the world size set to "smaller". Even though there is no such 50-year history limit at size "smaller" in standard world generation mode. Hmm.

Edit 2: is this because the world was so small that heroes found all the dragons and killed them before year 50 (which is "Year to Begin Checking Megabeast Percentage"), and then history had to stop, with the consequence than none of my migrants can be epic carpenters because no dwarf in the world is older than a young adult? Have I got that right?

It's likely to be that your megabeasts/semi-megabeasts are all dying out. Try upping the number of semi-megabeasts by 5 or 10. I wouldn't make the 'end year' too low either, keep it on the default of 1050 to be safe.

You can also disable the megabeast begin checking year completely and it will never cause world gen to stop early.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
