Minor tweaks to the game happen all the time and are not always anounced in the "to do" list. If you think the power of ranged weapons needs work, do you think it means the whole combat system needs to be changed? Last update made the AI smarter when it came to choosing easy hits vs priority hits (I think) and I did notice a difference. Also webbing got fixed, which had not been voted on either, I'm sure. I don't know if dwarfs equiping clothing was voted on, but it was surely complained about a lot, and hey, it was fixed (mostly).

Just because you don't see a big post on "hey I'm working on ranged fighting" doesn't mean it isn't being considered

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

So, the consensus seems to be that steel and silver are the top two bolt materials. But which is best?

Looking at warhammers, steel and silver are identical, but for edged silver blows and steel is second. I would say that steel is the best because it has both combined properties being extremely high. I've been making iron bolts because I have several thousand magnetite (that I've mined so far), and I'm seeing a higher fatality rate than with silver (especially against goblin invasions and forgotten beasts, who normally just become pin cushions).

Results: Team Steel Bolts defeats Team Silver Bolts with fourteen surviving members.

Test Three
