export bans
« on: June 15, 2012, 05:41:33 am »

Hi,

Has anyone any tip to avoid the cases where a ban is decreed AFTER the trades have been completed but before the merchants leave ?
Half my population is getting beaten (and quite a number slaughtered) because a ban on scepters has just been decreed (and i exported quite a number of them trying to empty the stocks)

Magma bath for the dwarf who made the ban.

Disband the guard.
Or this.
Also set Sheriff and Hammerer to "vacant".

Novel solution: don't export stuff the nobles have a preference for, especially stuff they've frequently gotten pushy about in the past.

Easier solution: bring the items to the depot in bins, then don't trade the bins themselves. The 'trade bringer' reference is only added to the bin itself, not the individual contents, so the noble will just get angry that nobody could be punished.

This has been known to exist since 40d (and I've personally used it in 23a) and it's been on the bug tracker since version 0.31.12 - it'll eventually get fixed, but probably not any time soon.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
