No caravan or migrants
« on: May 15, 2012, 06:23:43 pm »

So my fortress has come along great, but the dwarf caravan never showed up.  This also means I'm sitting on 18 dwarves and haven't gotten a migrant in two years, now.  The wiki says that this can happen if my civilization has no notable figures, which is true.  The dwarf civ exists, it just doesn't have a king for whatever reason.

This really sucks.  Is my entire world basically screwed, then?  Is there any way around this?  Should I file a bug report?

You could always breed your workforce!

I am.  Recall it takes several years for even one dwarf to reach maturity.  It could take a hundred years to get a population in the fifties, assuming no deaths.  Any constructions take forever to build.  Also, I'm forever stuck at "outpost".

I spent the better part of two days generating this world.  This is really obnoxious.

This isn't a bug, it's an intended feature (I'm pretty sure).
If having a permanently low-population fortress isn't your thing, you should gen a new world.

Just so you know, on the embark screen, you can tab over to see dwarven civs. If there are blue ohm symbols on the map when you do this, it means that civ has some sites and you should get migrants and caravans.
