A Drawing A Day (minus thursdays), requests welcome!
« on: May 03, 2012, 01:19:33 am »

I'm hopping on the "drawing a day" bandwagon.  It's gonna be rough, but I need to improve my art.  Here's what I can do: http://www.wix.com/andrewtscott/portfolio#!  Let me know if the link doesn't work :O

I prefer working with pencil and colored pencil for now.  I'm still taking my first 3D modeling class so no fancy modeling yet.  I'm a bit nervous, but I want to improve.  I can do an art a day, minus thursdays because I'm busy all day.  Requests are welcome :)

edit: oh right!  If you have a reference picture, by all means post it.  The less time I spend Googling around, the more time I have to make the drawing awesome :)

I'm so jealous. I want to get into game art, but I'm just not taking the right classes for it. I need to look into a good art school and see what I can take here before I see if I can transfer in.

I hope this goes well. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Your take on this: http://jeanettamiller.edublogs.org/files/2011/03/Hand-with-Reflecting-Sphere-1935-Lithograph-r3t9bq.jpg

Of course, feel free to skip as much detail as needed, but seeing that colored pencil art with the swords has reminded me of this.

Never fear, I'm working on my own version of that reflecting sphere image as speak.  I just had to get over how intimidated I was by it  :o  That image is absolutely incredible.  The details on the hand, the features of the human figure, and the astounding warping of perspective around the surface of the sphere.  This artist had balls.

Here it is!  Just a line art drawing for now... I wasn't sure if you wanted it colored or toned with pencil :O  My printer absolutely hates pencil drawings, so I had to adjust the contrast and brightness a lot to make it visible.

Nice work!

Don't worry so much about what other people want or didn't want when it's just a practice drawing, because otherwise, you'll drive yourself insane. ;)

You have to admit, starting with that image was a bit of a killer. Something like that isn't really a picture a day material unless you've had years and years of practice. Try something a bit more simple to start and slowly add to that picture once you've finished your daily picture.

Nah, not toning it or coloring it is alright (it would be overkill), and besides, you captured the reflection-warping effect quite nicely.

Nice job.

Thanks! :)  Just posting to show I'm still around, some stuff came up so I'm not sure when I'll post again next.  Maybe this weekend, ugh.
