Ragnarok
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:59:56 pm »

I played ragnarok for like 5 years, stoped 2 or 3 years ago to play.
The fact is that I still miss a mmo like the old ragnarok, like no cooldown on skills, simple graphics, a lot of skills and builds, and fast to play..
fast movements, fast skills, fast use on potions and stuff...

There is someone in this forums still playing ragnarok? Or maybe a game like ragnarok.. Not those generic mmorpgs like MU.

I thought you meant the Old-School roguelike, Ragnarok, which was absolutely amazing.

I've never played Ragnarok Online, though, that was about the time the MMO bubble was fixing to burst and I didn't feel like any MMO at that time was worth investing into. It did look neat, though. Any reason someone should try it out today?

+1. I knew of Ragnarok before I even knew of the term rogue-like.

Didn't it have some other name, too? *checks* Ah ha, yes! Valhalla.

I tried it a couple times, but something about the interface or UI just kept throwing me off, forget exactly what. Might try it again whenever I get an actual computer again.

I thought Vahalla was the name of the F2P server.
I have the DS game(very short) and watched Lol Castle on Youtube about a year or two ago.

I used to play it a lot a while back.  They've made a lot of changes over the years, but they still have some of the same annoying bugs.  Remember how your character flinches and stops moving if they get hit while walking, but the server and your computer disagree on where your character actually is?  So your character ends up slingshotting back and forth across your screen as you run?  Yeah they never fixed that.

I guess I'm bitter about Ragnarok, I had lots of happy memories there but too much changed too soon and I got tired of it :/

I used to play it on one of the the independent servers (High rate for the win!) before WarpPortal went F2P, it was decent, but I like other games much more now.

Ragnarok Online: The ONLY game where you have to level up to learn to sit.

If you want people to play with you, you should make the OP better. Explain what the game is and how it plays.

I used to play on one of them private servers a few years ago, then when it went free, I went onto the official server. Let me just say that I liked the private server more. The official server has too many bots and it's a bit slow.

Also I can't handle the regular EXP and drop rates, but that's my fault.

I dunno, korean MMO's tend to have pretty obscene base EXP and drop rates, I'd say that's a reasonable reaction, especially after coming from a private server.

As for the game itself, the PvP honestly still holds up pretty well for a korean MMO, but yeah the actual game game is pretty much an endless grind. MvP's are a neat concept, but never tried em so I can't speak for it.

Not too bad for a F2P korean MMO but that's not really a difficult market to beat out.

EDIT: Also yeah, flesh out that OP if you want more then casual discussion!
