 :o ohhhhh!  I thought the question was along the lines of - if enough cages were dumped on a creature, would it drown?

I must read these things more carefully.

Another cage-question:
If you burn a wooden cage with a creature in it, do the creature vanish or get free?

actually if you build a cage, as in (B>J) then they can drown just fine, it's only when it's an un-built cage like in a stockpile or something that they are for the most part immortal.

You could keep caged creatures in a room that's full of water most of the time, so if they escape (I think kobolds can, eventually?) they drown. :D
