Mac TEXT mode

I'm not too sure if this is a bug or just me not configuring correctly. I can get DF to run on my Mac (10.7) with no problem, but if I set the mode to TEXT in unit.txt, it tells me the mode is not supported on my platform. It seems according to the init file it should work in OS X. Are there extra libraries I should have?
