Can climate or weather be adjusted after world gen?
« on: April 18, 2012, 01:07:20 pm »

I've found what looks like it might be a good embark, but the climate is scorching.. Am I stuck with this or can I somehow adjust it before I embark?

Stuck with it, sort of. You COULD turn off temperature and weather in the init file. But that means NO temperature or weather of any kind. So, no burning things with magma and so on. Scorching isn't really that bad, however. It's not like dwarfs burst into flames or have all their fat melt out when embarking on scorching climates in the latest releases.

The only thing that scorching means is that any aboveground water will evaporate nigh-instantly unless it comes from an infinite source such as a river. Other then that it's no different then any other embark.

Also as an answer to your question, no, you can't other then turning off all temperatures or weather as GhostDwemer pointed out.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - A fun zombie survival rougelike that I'm dev-ing for.

OK.. I'll give it a shot.

Of course this just means that there will be no iron, or that lava will be 150 levels down.   ;)

boiling oceans ftw. I think the thread was about fisherdwarfs getting boiled while fishing near ocean waves.

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

And then everyone melted.
