If he walks then it's basically declaring open hunting seasons on your fellow citizens.  You don't even need to consider the racial aspect of it.  If you can literally chase people down and kill them in the streets then riots are entirely justified.  There is a season for all things.  When the law no longer ensures a safe society then it is time to riot.  If they won't fear the law then an angry mob is the only thing left for them to fear.

That, Ladies and Gentlemen, is a professional prosecutor. Current livestream beginning 6 PM ESDT. I do enjoy how she's smacking down the media a bit. Too much has leaked already and been misconstrued all to hell. How is he going to get an impartial jury...? Also she's got a hell of a job to do dealing with the swarm of reporters and how quite frankly this case is sorta botched already, but she can't say that.

It's always interesting to consider any reporting in cases like this to British Contempt of Court law.

A recent case in the UK resulted in five figure fines for two tabloids because what they published was " "so exceptional, so memorable" that it presented a "risk of serious prejudice" to any potential future trial."

It's a more patriarchal view towards the jury - assuming that they are more susceptible to bias by media - combined with similar contempt laws for ever disclosing jury deliberations, but I can't help feel it's often more realistic.

Sorry, I don't buy that someone smashing their way into a appliance shop and getting a free TV is in any way a form of social justice. Nor do I think people being ripped from their cars while they're driving by and getting beaten in the streets is either. People want to set cars of fire, tip them over, deface stuff? Fine. But victimizing someone else because you feel like a victim of the system is just displacing anger, and injustice.

Or to put it another way, the standard we should hold people to is the MLK standard. If they can't live up to that, to me, they're just as guilty as the people responsible for the cause of the rioting.

Rioting (as opposed to demonstrating or organised revolt) also horribly harms your cause, generally.  It certainly played into Cameron's "amoral underclass" narrative pretty well.

Well you're meant to get the facts through the court rather than the possibly biased or flawed newspaper articles (it also avoids the ultimate headache of newspapers intentionally biasing the jury one way or the other).  Really I'm surprised the Sun and Mirror don't get into trouble for that kind of thing more often.

Well, that and because if he was now technically a "fugitive on the run", then someone in Florida could make the case that as a wanted fugitive, they considered him a danger and felt threatened enough to shoot him.
