Injured immigrant?
« on: April 07, 2012, 08:39:53 pm »

Just had an immigrant fishery worker, who has a quite elaborate title, arrive with a missing tongue and every other body part flagged yellow (aside from upper body). He's 90 years old, arrived with his wife, and has multiple goblin and animal kills. Has moderate military skills, low-level skills in some farm-related stuff, and no social skills.

I don't think I've seen an immigrant arrive with injuries like this, but I usually don't check for injuries. Is this normal?

I have seen it a few times in the current version.  It's a result of the new system where dwarves are drawn from historic populations and can have significant lives before coming to your fortress.  On my latest fort I saved a copy of the world before embarking so I can go into legends mode and look to see what my immigrants did in their lives before coming to my fort.

Turns out several immigrants in this batch have nearly full-body yellow injuries. Must have been a tough trip.

That'll mostly be just scars and bruises then

I have a dwarf in my fortress whose tongue is gone, yet her description still says 'She has a clear voice'.  I just don't know how that works.

In one of my forts a goblin bit off the tonge of a soldier. I don't want to picture that in my head.

Maybe the dwarf tried to kiss the goblin in battle to suprise him.
