I ask this every time I come back...
« on: April 10, 2012, 06:05:41 pm »

Okay, having returned from another lengthy hiatus during which it seems several updates have passed, I am forced to once again ask...

Did Toady change the way minerals work? The only reason I don't pass this off as my paranoia is that I heard someone talking about 'mineral scarcity' and that sounds like something I probably want to know about.

There is a worldgen setting called mineral scarcity. It dictates how many minerals will be available on the world. both in ammount and in variety.

It's worth noting that in advanced worldgen LOWER values = more minerals.

Depending on how long you've been away, minerals are either considerably more or less scarce than they used to be by default. More importantly, you can change the default in worldgen. There have also been changes to which types of rock are magma-proof (don't make the mistake I did going by the old list and watching a pump operator go up in smoke).
