water into volcano reveals magma sea?
« on: April 05, 2012, 08:55:41 pm »

i recently had a map where i had a volcano appear in a lake, BELOW water level, so the map starts by dumping tons of water into the volcano

aside from the heap "a section of the cavern has collapsed" messages, i was notified that i found the magma sea, "candy" a magma pool, and a ton of other stuff

repeating this, i embark on a regular volcano, and use dfhack to build a 1 block wide river, that flows into the volcano, and voila, within seconds, i see a big chunk of the magma sea, about 55 blocks radius from the point where the volcano connects to the magma sea..

this took just seconds of water flow, so it's effortless to do without cheating..
although of course i cant say i dont think this is cheating

aside from the obvious issue with that i'm sure the block of obsidian forming and collapsing in the volcano should not provide any sight, what exactly are the consequences of this?

and is this a known issue?

It's probably causing the cave-in location to be revealed, thus bug report.
