My kiwi wings weren't good enough for Delores. she had to have an ALBATROSS!!

Did... Did you just make a ridiculously obscure Outland (or was it Bloom County) reference? And did I just get it? Laughing to self. I can still remember the drawing of said sad kiwi with his face buried in his unflying wings....

I usually (though of course, not always) encounter octopi from people that are attempting to be pedantic, and get condescending and insist that it is the only proper plural, which is why it annoys me.  I don't actually suggest calling them octopodes, I think the regular plural of octopuses is ideal, but if your going to use the latin plural trying to be correct, you should at least use the right one.  And if you're trying to be funny, octopodes is a much funnier word, unless you're trying to make a pun on pie or something.  That and nothing gives me more satisfaction than being pedantic at pedants.

That OED bit about octopes is interesting, and suggests to me that the singular of centipedes (and millipedes) could be centipes, which I will now have to start using to annoy one of my teachers.

I think Albatrossi just sounds more interesting, as a plural form....

I can already imagine a Colossus from SC2, except albatross~

Efficiency and esotericism are the true facets of alignment; not good and evil, for both good and evil are subjective. Good and evil are simply chaos -- and order is their absence.
