Laundering foreing items by freezing
« on: April 04, 2012, 08:33:36 am »

Liquid items you get from caravans (or at embark) like, blood, ichor, drinks, dwarven syrup, lye, golden salve, gnomeblight, etc... if you check them the liquid itself is marked as white meaning that is foreing and it doesn't count to your fortress wealth.

But if you leave them above ground in a map that freezes, they become "frozen whatever", when they thaw (by moving them underground or waiting until is hot enough in your map) they become brown items!

So tecnically you have laundered them into being yours the same way you do with goblin/caravan clothing items when you add a decoration, cool, isn't it?  8)

Sounds like a potential way to "launder" stolen items such as barrels of gnomeblight or golden salve from the elves.

Sounds good to me. Nice find, and once I get back in I'll test it myself. Maybe.

Fun fact, it allows you to make roasted frozen booze. I encountered this in the hostile worlds I genned, but I didn't get any merchants  (everyone died), cool find

Does Forgotten Beast extract freeze?

Depends. Some of it is by definition frozen. (not frozen forgotten beast extract but forgotten beast frozen extract) I've had that thrown at my dwarves several times.

Yes, it shoots globs of frozen extract at you. This usually causes the fortunate side effect of not spreading syndromes, but acting as a missile instead. Could be better or worse.

Frozen Forgotten Beast Frozen Extract? Forget about it!

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.
