My keyboard appears to only allow one key at a time.
« on: April 09, 2012, 05:48:28 pm »

Hey, I have no idea why this keyboard is only allowing the use of one key at a time.  I'm using a PS/2 Adapter (I think that's what it is) because the plugs that are used for my actual keyboard are of the wrong type.  Is there any way around this/a way to fix this?  Most games can't be played now because you need a combinations of the WSAD keys, so if you could help, that would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

I've seen around the internet looking around for a solution, I have gotten none.  I also notice people bring in the type of adapter I use, but I usually get lost in a bit of babbling after that.

Just a quickly couple of questions:

Does Shift+any character still work perfectly fine?
Has the keyboard always done this, or is this something recent?

It works with all the side keys I'm sure, such as Shift, Ctrl, and alt.  And the only way to use a keyboard with this computer (new) is to use the USB port that I have both my mouse and my keyboard plugged into.  This is what I'm talking about

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I'm pretty sure the type of keyboard you're using is more important than the cord.

It's the exact same model my mom uses for her computer, and it works fine for her with games and such.  I have tried this with multiple games, all have the same problem.

It'd probably be a good idea to get a new keyboard and mouse that can use a USB. Whether it's the keyboard or the cord, you're going to have to get it replaced.

If you don't have enough USB connections on the computer, you can always get a multi-port USB extension, just be sure that it uses an outlet to get power so you don't fry the USB slot on your computer.

If that still doesn't work, most places allow you to return the keyboard if you say it doesn't work. And that's the only upside.

I think I'll go with fool's suggestion, USB ports probably will work, because the only two ACTUAL solutions I found on the internet was getting ones that don't use the adapters and something about your OS can mess it up.  Thanks for helping guys!
