So I downloaded the new version at last and wanted to have a look at this revamped adventure mode before diving into a new fortress after many months of not touching the game. I genned a small world with a 5-year history then started up a human "hero" in one of the towns.
The town was empty. I wandered all over, but all the shops were abandoned and houses were empty. I wasn't sure if this was because humans were so few and far between in this massive town, or if something terrible had happened. Finally I came upon a temple of some sort and found my first human. A flashing yellow U. I talk to her and it seems she's the leader of this town as well as of the temple. I ask for quests and she laughs at me. I ask her to join me and she laughs harder. I shrug and head down into the underground part of the temple.
This whole area also seems to be empty, though every now and then I get some lag between steps which makes me think there's something alive down here. At the end of a winding hallway I come across two human corpses. That can't be a good sign. I head back to explore the other side and finally, opening a door to a large room, I discover a huge band of goblins. Their chieftess gives me a speech about how amazing she is because one time she killed this one guy, then shoots me in the everything and I die horribly.
At a loss, I head into the legends mode and look for the town. The entire history is only five years, so anything significant should be easy to spot. No battles, no invasions, no wars, nothing. Finally I notice that the "Reputations of Sin" moved there in year 4. Moved there? That can't be the goblins. Goblins don't just "move" to human towns... right?
I look up the Reputations of Sin and sure enough, they're a band of goblin outcasts. They just moved right on in to the temple, it seems, killing the few humans who were already there and escaping notice by the others in the town.
Also in the history of this town is a cyclops moving in and killing almost everyone who lived there (guess that explains why the priestess/mayor is the only one left), and the bride of dusk horror moving in, living there as a farmer for a while, then getting abducted by the dusk horror she's married to.
If all this happens in just five years, what will the world be like when I let the history run for 125 years? 250? Is it always like this or did I just get a crazy one?
By the way, after trying with 5 demigod human adventurers trained up high in throwing, ambushing, and weapons skills, I still haven't managed to beat that stupid chieftess, although I did kill most of her pals.
