Having issues with becoming a vampire
« on: March 27, 2012, 09:50:21 pm »

Been playing .05 for quite a while and my adventurer has killed at least 5-6 vampires so far. I've drank every single one of their blood, even taking as much as 20 drinks of a few and I haven't had any luck. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is here a bug related to vampirism?

well, you don't get a sudden "You have become a vampire!" message or anything, the game just decides you are and turns off needing to sleep, eat, and drink to survive. So if you haven't needed to do any of those things, you might actually be a vampire. You can also tell if there is a red "thirsty" on your screen, which indicates you'd like to get a nice drink of blood right about now.

Well, it's been about 2 weeks since my first drinking blood experience, and that's what I've only been doing whenever I've been thirsty since and I haven't had a shred of luck :/

Have you been bitten by a werebeast at any point in the past?  The vampire curses and werebeast curses are mutually exclusive.  If you're still getting thirsty (and the "thirsty" is blue, not red) you're definitely still not a vampire, though.

Not a single one. In fact the first quest I had was to kill a vampire. I killed it, and stored 100 drinks worth of blood and drank about 40 of them.

Have you become husked or inflicted with something?

Nope. Literally started off, ran over across town, accused a vampire, townsfolk helped me beat him down, took all his blood, drank it. Next quest I fought another in some sewers. I've killed and drank about 5-6 vampires so far and no luck.

I believe this is a (known?) bug with vampirism. Sometimes you just have to keep killen them vamps and chuggin' that blood. Maybe try retiring and then unretiring? Maybe try drinking the blood of a vamp that is still alive?

I had this problem with my first adv that tried to become a vamp, but not at all on subsequent ones.

Ahh I don't think I've tried drinking it while they are still alive. Hopefully I can find one.

The alive thing may help. My successful vampire adventure stabbed the vampire in the arm, then licked the dagger and proceeded in killing the vampire. I noticed the success about half a day later when a dark red "Ñ" popped up somewhere on the main screen (don't remember where, I think somewhere near the left bottom).
It was a slight disappointment to notice that other night creatures are quite unwilling to share the night, almost as much as those day creatures are willing to share the blood.
