Bird Calls
« on: March 24, 2012, 09:31:53 pm »

So I was browsing some bird RAWs to check egg size and I noticed something interesting under the Kakapo castes.

   [CASTE:MALE]
      [MALE]
      [SOUND:PEACEFUL_INTERMITTENT:200:1000:VOCALIZATION:boom:booms:a low boom]
      [SOUND:PEACEFUL_INTERMITTENT:50:1000:VOCALIZATION:ching:chings:a metallic ching]

I checked all the other bird raws and couldn't find any other instances of this. Anyone know the effect of this code?

And here's a kakapo call in case you're curious.

In-game, the only real effect is that it can make dwarves angry if they're woken up by the noise.  Otherwise, I don't think it actually does anything.  Perhaps in adventure mode you can hear it, but sound is a rarely used tag and doesn't have much testing on it.

Hmm my Kakapo pen is pretty close to the bedrooms, especially if that 200:1000 indicates the range of the booming (which it could be; kakapo calls resonate for miles). I haven't seen any upset Dwarves waking up from big parrots.

This answers the question pretty well though, Thanks!
