Harvestcreek - a new players experience with Dwarf Fortress

I just started playing Dwarf Fortress.  I downloaded the Lazy Newb pack, and have been diving head first into the game.

Harvestcreek is my third fortress, and I decided to cronical it's trials and tribulations on my blog.

Read about dwarves going crazy and dying of dehydration.

Read about hunters chasing down goblin snatchers.

Another update.  The Great Hall is finished, and a balista has been made.

I'm running out of ideas.  I need something to keep this fort going, some kind of purpose.  I'm pretty new with DF, so I'm not sure what that will be yet.
