IDEA! It will unleash the hellspawn, but they won't be able to reach you. You can get a more accurate measurement of how big the plug needs to be by using dfreveal, but otherwise you can just make it really, really huge and hope it's big enough.

Hmm. I need to try this.

Also this? Not only does it involve outright cheating (cleaning contaminants is a patch for a lacking feature, but reveal is outright a wallhack), but unleashing the clowns and NOT killing them is not going to be pleasant at all - huge FPS drops are common, and they dont get any better until you deal with the clowns in the usual dwarfy way. Good luck coping with the rest of your fort on a magnitude of 10fps or so.

Ah, yes.  The usual dwarfy way.  When everyone's dead, you won't need to worry about that fortress's FPS again.

I never said to ignore the HFS forever. I merely implied that you should mine every piece of candy first, then tackle them with your new super military.

Also, if you know where the hollow center is, you can position the plug without using a hack (since the hollow part is always 2x2). I was saying you could use the hack to determine the minimum height the plug would have to be, or barring a hack, just make it as big as you can to make sure it reaches the bottom. You can deconstruct it as you go if it gets in the way

They must die in gory and Awesome ways

If we can put stockpiles on retractable bridges, never tried it, I have a gory death trap.  You could lock them under a stockpile of low quality granite statues.  Then pull a lever to drop statues 10 z levels, onto the trapped visitor's noggen.

Got that idea last night while trying to fall asleep.  Requires stockpile painting on bridge, not sure bout that.  Worth doing the SCIENCE, however.  I know we can drop food thru a hatch.  Hmm.  Knutor

IDEA! Make a plug tall enough to fill up the entire bottom of the adamantine tube, then crash it through. If done correctly, it should create a pillar stretching from the bottom of the hfs up to the bottom of the tube. It will unleash the hellspawn, but they won't be able to reach you. You can get a more accurate measurement of how big the plug needs to be by using dfreveal, but otherwise you can just make it really, really huge and hope it's big enough.

I don't have much experience with that but does the hole go straight down? I interpreted the wiki as meaning it is 2x2 on every z-level and there is at least one field overlap from one z-level to the next
although just thinking, that would make your idea much easier because the plug will only fall a few z-levels at most and then get stuck still blocking access to your fort
