Okay, about 40 undead goblins fell to my weapon traps, I just let them through in small batches and got all their remains away from the surface before opening the gates again. I never saw a necromancer. No necromancer corpses in my stockpiles. Siege flag is now lifted. I'm sending a squad out to investigate. No armor and iron weapons, but necromancers aren't really melee fighters from what I gather.

Also, I never saw any body parts that were left on the surface (arms and things that flew off) get raised.

Civilization screen notes contact with dwarves, kobolds and goblins. I have not seen a goblin ambush or snatcher yet. The only goblins I've seen were shambling corpses.

Necromancers can infiltrate your fortress by posing as a migrant.  I don't know if human necromancers will attempt to infiltrate... be somewhat hilarious, a tall dwarf with belly exposed through half of his undersized breastplate, but he's wearing kitten leather socks so he must be legit.

"Urist, the new guy is really tall, and his beard belongs on a youngling, but his socks are named Bootsie and Mittens, so I guess he checks out okay."

Looking through the legends, this is a VERY grim world ruled mostly by necromancers, demons and vampires. A human necromancer was king of his civ from year one, and it just got worse from there, with vampires and demons taking over civilizations left and right. My own civ is one of the few good ones. There are also about twice the normal number of megabeasts, FBs and semis. A lot of them are dead now, but some have managed to breed.

My conclusion is that any time you see anomalous structures listed in your neighbors screen on embark, plan for trouble. Someone evil probably took them over, and they will be out to get you.
