Hospital equipment
« on: March 17, 2012, 02:41:28 am »

I have my hospital built and they've moved all the supplies except the crutches and the splints.  Only one crutch was delivered.  I've tried increasing/decreasing the amounts yet no change.  I've tried adding extra coffers for storage, yet no change. The crutches and splints are waiting in the nearby stockpile... no forbid status, no burrows... any ideas??

I'm thinking of just removing the zone, let a little time pass and then recreating it.

You could just create a custom stockpile inside your hospital set to only have crutches and splints. Your dwarves'll use em from the stockpile if and when they're needed.

Somehow, that fills me more with dread than anticipation.  It's like being told that someone's exhuming your favorite grandparent and they're going to try to make her into a cyborg stripper.

Good Idea... I wish the hospital would work better for holding stuff.

*Update:
Same thing is now happening with the soap now too... they delivered only 150 of the 900 soap.

Yes, I even create new ones which are stored with no problem.

A very simple, though very useful method is this:
- place 1 chest/bag in the hospital
- wait for it to be filled
- after it's filled, place another one
- wait for it to be filled
- repeat

You probably need around 6-8 chests/bags to completely fill your hospital. You need to wait till the container is filled before placing the other one, else the dwarfs think like this:
- There are 9 chests and 0 cloth! Let's fill all 9 chests with cloth and see if we have enough!
- All orders are set at the same time, after they are done: *All chests filled with cloth*
- Yes, we have enough! What's next? Ah, thread! Too bad all the chests are filled. Ah, forget it.

Thanks those tips of advice worked... 7 coffers ... one by one... filled the hospital.

Does a well need to be inside the hospital zone itself?   I have two wells nearby yet they're downstairs.

Wells are convenient but not necessary inside the hospital zone.
