Hill Giant
« on: March 18, 2012, 07:03:25 am »

So, I venture into the cave of Flying Creatures.
Vanquish them.
Get ambushed on the way back to the fort, maybe leave my companions to their fate and get my new mission.

Kill a Hill Giant.
Now, im kinda new, but that sounds well.... kinda giant.

Im guessing Send in the drones first, stand back like a good general then go in hack at the legs and feet. Then arms and hands. Then go for the head(throat?)
What companions should i take with me? The fort im in normally has more than i can recruit so i can be slightly picky. I think i should be able to take .... maybe 14 with me, making us 15 in total.

So, tips and tricks?

If your weapon skills are coming along now, you might even be able to do it alone or with just a few.

The more people you take with you, the more ambushers there will be if you get ambushed. It's not without risk.

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

I didnt know that, thanks.
And my weapon skills arnt great, but the infinate unarmed kobold cave seems like a good training place as any (even gets my dodge up quite nicely)
So myself + 2 lashers maybe? (the lashers seem to survive quite well, they may even survive against the kobolds and be stronger themselves).

There's a difference between a titan and a giant. A titan is a procedurally generated creature.

My world was in "The age of the Mountain Titan"

So i guess killing him probably counted as a big deal :P

If you did it, it was a big deal. Good job!

Now, I'm going to admonish you for not killing emus (or whatever the local herding creature is - my world has emu) and badgers until you're legendary fighter and weapon user.

And then go learn to swim. And then throw rocks on the ground. And then learn to sneak. At this point, you should have Very High-Supercreaturely stats. The game will now be fun, not FUN.

Yeah, titans can be a bit disappointing. especially if you have one made from stuff like mist or water. I threw a rock at one one time for laughs and killed it by breaking the upper body from the lowerbody... that was seriously disappointing.

My first titan was a ball of mud whit a tail... man that was disappointing, poked him once with my iron scimitar and it collapsed.
It didnt even leave any remains for me to animate with my newly acquired necromancer skillz.

One made of salt, on the other hand... Cut it in half, and carry it around to pre-season your food. Yeah, I did that.

Ah, don't you just love licking rock salt titans? It's somewhere on the top of my favourite things to do in adventure mode.
