FPS super drop?
« on: March 16, 2012, 04:43:31 pm »

Hey, I have been having problems with fps. Ive followed alot of guides but cant get it to work.
Here are my comp specs:
Phenom II x4 960T
8 GB gskill ram
Radeon 2400 pro
crosshair V motherboard
western digital 160gb hard drive
650w psu

I have 65 dwarfs and my fps rate drops to about 40-60 from the 150 i have at start.
I am running the newest Ubunutu.
Any suggestions? ;/

That's pretty much normal for DF.

You can turn off weather and temperature and get a sizeable FPS boost right there.

the point is I have a friend who has just a little better processor then me run 200 fps constantly. Its a 4 core processor at 3.2ghz ;/ Should be able to put up with more then a 50fps rate on DF

Is that with the exact same fortress, or just one with a similar size and population?

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Then I'd guess that's related to your machine and processor specifically and not DF.

"4 core processor at 3.2ghz" doesn't really say much - is it an Intel CPU (Core i7) or AMD?

If the "friend" is looking at FPS while the game is paused then it will show 200 as compared to a more accurate number when the game is not paused and viewing the main entrance.
