Artifact doors
« on: March 13, 2012, 08:47:08 pm »

I've heard that artifact doors are indestructible, can anyone confirm this for me? And by indestructible, i mean at least keep a web shooting demon overlord at bay.

Nothing can destroy it, save for atomsmashing, and I believe in-casement in obsidian. No creature can break it down.

Not sure if they're magma-safe (unless they're made of magma-safe material), but they will hold that demon off.

When a building destroyer smashes a door, it's either destroyed, or becomes a XXDoorXX which the dwarves will put in the refuse pile.  When a building destroyer smashes an artifact door, it's toppled and "ripped off the hinges" leaving it on the ground, but it's a pristine door and suffers no damage.  It can be rebuilt easily.

At least that's my experience.

It kept him out. It was hard to get it closed after my miner and before him. (Had to use . to get a single step at a time for it), but it held him out. It seems to treat it like its a wall, which makes me wonder if it acts like a single tile bridge. Locked and its an indestructible wall (like a raised bridge), unlocked its just an unremoveable tile (like a lowered bridge).
