My companions are hungry: How do I feed them?

My adventurer is carrying a good amount of dingo-derived foodstuffs. My adventurer eats and drinks regularly, but when I press 'c', both my companions have a brown and blue down arrow in the listings. How do I keep them full and hydrated?

Are you playing an older version of 0.34.xx? I don't know exactly when it was fixed, but as of 0.34.05, your companions don't need to consume anything to survive.
