Cave entrance, HFS

I would like to find a way to the caves and the HFS in adventure mode, can I do so without creating a fortress?

Yes, i remember reading that there are about 12 enterances into the caverns, not sure about hfs tough, but sometimes law-givers will be demons.
I recommend Legends/World viewer for finding cave sites.

Once you find a cave, downward passages will help you make your way to the third cavern layer, after which you may find curious underground structures that lead downwards.

Little dark grey ovals, if you had "show caves" enabled in worldgen.

I've never once found a clownhouse that's open to the caverns. It's also ridiculously hard to escape the caverns once you wander too far because they're basically a Texas-sized procedurally generated maze filled with cave crocodiles.

The easiest way to do this will be to retire (or rest a while) as a peasant, dig a hole in fortress mode, abandon and come out of retirement.

I'm planning on getting my necro weremoniter adventurer down to the caverns with massive army of zombie weremoniters created by dwarven cloning, and unleash them on the HFS.

Actually, clowns will not jump out from the stairway since you don't have fortress to path in. They'll just sit there and wait for you
