Finding a darn house in a hamlet

I often end up drowsy with no castle nearby. I manage to enter a hamlet but all I see are rows and rows of farmlands with no house in site. Is there a quick way to find houses in hamlet or do I have to wander aimlessly?

In the travel map, the yellow areas have houses.

it's usually a block of house with roads running through them.

While fast travelling, press "m" to see what structures are around you. Houses are usually in the most middle part of hamlets/villages.
