How do I eat corpses/limbs?

I have some corpses i want to eat..but my guy only ends up licking them, infact he only licks anythign I try feed him, i'm a major noob lol, how do I get him to eat things??

I don't think you can eat sentient species or disgusting things/ inedible objects unless you edit the raws to be able to eat them. If you want to butcher a non-sentient corpse you need to stand over their corpse, sharp object in hand, and press x.

You can eat sentients as an adventurer, only thing is that you can't eat corpses directly.

Like lifehole says, you need any sharp object wielded in hand, which means you should be holding it in either left or right hand and not in the backpack, x > butcher, then pick up the meat and chow down!

If you cannot eat something directly, you 'lick' it. Like snow. You lick snow.
